However, I will say that Horobi's hatred for humanity, at first, isn't through his own volition and is there because the Ark programmed him to act like that. Much like how early Jin behaves as well. It wasn't until they defeat the Ark where Horobi gets his own reasoning to his hatred of humanity. He even spells it out: "As long as humans exist, there will always be the possibility of an Ark returning."
