Yeah, I think the split between Proto Suit In 01/Full Suit At The End Of 01/Full Suit Early In 01 across the Heisei shows is probably 33/33/33. It's not totally unexpected that a show as technology-influenced as Kabuto would take a minute to get to the base suit. I don't think it's exactly a failure to save it, but it always strikes me as a bit Aww Come On. I can see it being the hook that gets a kid to tune in next week, but I can also see it as an irritation that makes a kid not want to come back.

I would like to mention one thing I love about Kabuto is NEXT LEVEL, my second favorite OP in Heisei Rider! The show actually starts out pretty good and surprisingly apocalyptic with the Meteor of 99.

I really love the almost-whispered voiceover narrating a massive meteor strike, all before the opening credits. It's this beautiful contrast between the enormity of the damage (a city is reduced to rubble) and the deeply personal toll (one person lost everything). Maybe my favorite thing from the first episode?
