The Bee Zecter abandons Yaguruma and Kagami when they exhibit internal conflict such as hesitation or doubt. So far, Kageyama is pretty consistent in his subordination to ZECT which seems to resonate with The Bee Zecter in a way that his predecessors couldn't live up to. I think the Zecters are deliberately made to be mysterious and abstract in what they want and why they value certain traits over others.
I really do like this read (thought a lot about this on the walk home), but I'm not sure the Kagami one works? He ends up abandoning TheBee Zecter, not the other way around, so it's tough to say what exactly would be the breaking point for it.
The idea of it valuing teamwork and... like, structure, I really like that? It's harder to see the Drake's priorities, since we haven't gotten its backstory (nor Daisuke's), and the partnership between the Drake Zecter and Daisuke seems grudging at
best
.
Anyway, yes, I like thinking about this. Hooray for assigning personalities and preferences to the Zecters!

Well, he's pretty clear that for
this
mission, he needed ZECT's support. (They got him into the hospital!) The very next episode he says that he's done with them.

The thing is, it's not even that you shouldn't tell stories about perfect characters. It's that hinging a cliffhanger on the perfect character's surprise or ignorance... that is maybe the thing you shouldn't do. Like, Tendou can absolutely be perfect, but then you need a cliffhanger that's about
literally anyone else
being in peril. (I mean, you've got Gon being captured! Just end on that!) Trying to make an audience who has seen Tendou flawlessly foil every single attempt on his life think that
this time
he didn't see it coming... I don't know, I don't think it works.

Good point! I think Kagami ended up bragging about this one more because he was really doubting himself, and he wants to feel like a winner for a bit. The other reason is probably because the last time he got a win against a Worm, he immediately became a Kamen Rider afterwards, and that was probably more worthy of boasting. (The other other reason is because Inoue wrote this one and the one before it.)
