It's a very subversive Sentai, similar to Jetman, where the magic of friendship and camaraderie is undermined by rivalry and distrust. Masumi/Natsuki is one of my favorite ships of the 00s!

Fun fact: The Mamiya in Mamiya Natsuki is spelled with the exact same kanji as in Mamiya Rena from the concurrently airing Kamen Rider Kabuto. These two people are not related. Did Toei run out of names in 2006?

There's also the fact that the whole core team is fully formed from the start, a rare feature that also applies to Gokaiger, Lupinranger and technically, Power Rangers Samurai (the first 2 episodes of Shinkenger were cut and pasted later as a prequel).

Not sure how familiar you are with Showa Sentai but they used to call each other by color when morphed. Since this is an anniversary season, Sakura doing it may be a reference to that for authenticity. It also shows that she's the most distant member of the team, acting like their relationship is just business rather than friends. She's especially cold to Masumi who she deems a liability, which isn't entirely unwarranted I guess.

The first 3 movies are good, but people, myself included, generally agree that the fourth is lame. If you're looking for a more recent adventure movie, I'd recommend Tomb Raider, an adaption of the 2013 video game of the same name from the action adventure game series starring Lara Croft. I think it's one of the few game-to-movie adaptions that improve on the source.
