But, yeah, some. His concern for Hiyori is genuine, and her affection for Another Tendou is as well. He didn't kidnap her or mistreat her (until, y'know, final scene), and his action are pretty well-rooted in his love for her. Another Tendou is the Tendou who doesn't have the responsibility of Kabuto to temper or disperse his instinct to control, his tendency to focus on his own needs.

The episode does this one thing that I really liked and forgot to mention. In the beginning of the episode, when Hiyori leaves with Another Tendou, Tendou drops to his knees in anguish. At the end of the episode, when Hiyori leaves with Tendou, Another Tendou drops to his knees in anguish. I love the symmetry of that, that their reflex is to deal with trauma in the exact same way.

Yeah, curious to learn more about Another Tendou. He's an intriguing villain.

It's a nice attention to detail how despite the other Souji trying to prove himself as the only one who can protect Hiyori and acting totally different from Tendo, which makes sense given their separate backstories and all the extra trauma the other Souji had to endure, he still emotes in the same way since Worms are imprinted on with basic mannerisms from the people they mimic. There are some parts of that person that can't be changed and how he expresses a strong emotion like despair is something we don't see from Tendo often but they have that in common.

I'm not going to defend how the other Souji reacts to Hiyori abandoning him, but like, this is how Tendo could've ended up under the wrong circumstances, without his grandmother to raise him and teach good morality and ethics. The other Souji who has never walked the path of heaven cannot see how his actions are wrong cause all he knows is how he was abused by others.
