It is interesting that the X-Swordman on the cover is styled like a samurai instead of like the comic hero. And it's a left-slot WRB, so I wonder what mythical creature it's based on... I know Japanese folklore has a whole class of youkai based on living objects (tsukumogami), are any of those based on swords or samurai armor?
Perhaps it could be based upon something else. First of all X-Swordsman is a superhero. That much is true. Typically, most superheroes aren't normally all human. Whether that means that they were born super, for example, Superman, Wonder Woman, the X-Men, other mutants, and some of the Kamen Riders (Kiva and the Saber Riders), or they gained their powers due to something happening to them for them to gain their powers, for example, Green Lantern, Hulk, Spider-Man, and some of the Kamen Riders (like Ex-Aid), superheroes aren't typically all human. Essentially, I think that the basis for X-Swordsman is "Demigods", "Superheroes", and/or other heroic figures that aren't exactly all human. Essentially, X-Swordsman is less a "God Beast" book and more of a "Legendary Hero" book. So essentially, it is a case of technicalities.
