In Ren's case, his philosophy that strength is justice lacks nuance which is why he couldn't accept that Kamijo defeated Kento. He's like an AI being told a paradox and can't understand the truth is more complicated than it seems on the surface. However, Ren made a choice to antagonize Touma instead of giving him a chance to explain himself. That's not a problem with Ren's philosophy, that's just a problem with Ren.

Yeah, he's seeing everything in black-and-white, and refusing to consider that Touma might be right. He's refusing to think in general, actually.

I might need to explain: I never meant to "excuse" what Ren was doing (though I can see how it might sound like that. oops). He's still very much the one in the wrong here. But I'm tired of people saying "I don't like this character, so the hero who wants to save people should go against everything the show stands for and murder them," and then getting mad when that doesn't happen.

I know I can't tell anyone how they should watch a show, and maybe I shouldn't have said anything at all. Maybe I've taken things too far. I'm not sure anymore.

I don't even like Ren that much. I just think there's more to the character than, "he's bad."
