Well, again, I think what made me really appreciate the first episode of Den-O were its grounded elements. There's a real focus on Ryotaro's psychology that I found compelling. The comedy's great, and the sense of adventure is welcome, but none of that would matter if there weren't smart and relatable things happening with the main character.

I don't exactly have numbers in front of me for ratings or toy sales, but my understanding is that Kuuga casts a pretty long shadow on the Heisei Riders.

He's a sweet kid and all, but the show is already asking questions about how useful his sheepishness/pacifism is as a lifestyle. I'm not sure if he's really being portrayed as a saint when he's repeatedly (and correctly) told to fight!
