I don't think there's actually a single new color Zero-Two adds? The red and silver were already accents on Rising Hopper. The increased prominence of the red is likely because it's considered a heroic color, and the huge influx of silver allows for a layered look to the armor, giving the impression it's tougher without making the suit any bulkier and ruining the streamlined aesthetic.

I think Zero-Two is every bit as considered and smart a design as Rising Hopper itself was, personally, but of course, this is a thread for unpopular opinions, so I won't tell you you're wrong to not like it. I mean, Flaming Tiger might actually be my favorite Zero-One suit over both of them, so what do I know, right?
