Episode 10 – Choushinsei Flashman

Ah Flashman. The show I can’t quite decide is a great show, or an above average one. On one hand, there’s an interesting theme to it, and a pretty good story, in addition to the first “secondary Mecha” in the form of Flash Titan. But on the other hand, the show has way too many villains, with one of the initial ones never getting any dialogue and getting unceremoniously offed halfway through the show, while instead of just one later addition, they make 6, with only two having any dialogue and one having any prominence.

That said, I do like that they named their bad guy “Ra Deus”, purely because of how on the nose it is. And I fondly remember someone pointing out that Flashman’s Vul weapons make Timeranger’s Voltech weapons look lightweight by comparison. (To quote him, “at least the Timerangers were never visibly struggling to hold up their weapons”)

This will also be the last time we see a green hero from the first episode, due green spandex (at the time) having its colour fade after 30 episodes of filming. So, don’t expect to see a lot of variety in colour combinations until Dairanger.
