It's not "Now where can I get my subs?", it's "Wow, Toei legit just tried to smash the fansub community's knees in despite the fact that they're the whole reason they get money from the west in the first place."

It's how it makes Toei's view of their international audience look, which isn't very good.

Of course these groups will use workarounds, but that doesn't change the fact that Toei ended up souring their relationship with international followers pretty badly, even if it's in their right to threaten legal action.
