I'm pretty sure they have more functionality, or at least more useful joints and articulation than Bandai's version.

I distinctly remember when they were first shown in that fan first thing, and I was freaking out about the megazord having elbows and ankles and a ball jointed neck, which I'm pretty sure no standard megazord toy has had before. Basically Transformers articulation.

(Edit: I completely missed that you already mentioned the articulation. Oops)

Also, I like how they set up the other two boxes. Gives the smaller zords something to do aside from sticking onto the t-rex.
