You know, I’ve had a hard time articulating myself about this show in previous weeks, but I feel like with this episode I’m finally at a point where I can sort out more of how I feel so far.

The show is pretty weird! There are a lot of aspects I can really appreciate, but then there are also parts that feel like complete misfires too. Conceptually, I really like both the drama and the humor. Like, everything with Daiji is interesting, but it is an awful lot to have so much happen to him in the span of 8 episodes. I don’t know enough about him, or heck, anyone at this point to get invested beyond the surface level of “Oh no, bad things are happening to this nice family!”. Similarly, I find a lot of the humor pretty good, but the delivery is often not great! Except George, who is always in peak weirdo comedy form. The show isn’t bad, but the plot beats feel more like episode 30 than episode 8 to me, so I hope they slow down and let the character get more low stakes moments more often.
