I feel that's really underselling Shin. The slimy coating over his rough skin, his bulging muscles and well designed head that features multiple moving points (And his signature split jaw), all topped off by a mild body horror transformation.

To me, Black is just armor with a muscular detailing beneath. Honestly, I don't even get a "Burnt" quality to him, since he's black with brown skin beneath his exoskeleton, a common color for grasshoppers and locusts.
