Oh, tried to got around this when my laptop is in need of fixing, which means it's unusable currently until it's fixed and made me think I should wait even longer to watch this (only finished W the series, the TV didn't air movies), but I got reminded that there are still my older laptop that I can salvage, outdated but usable enough for this. But good that I'm not left out here.

Oh man, is
this
my favorite Kamen Rider movie?
And like the one starting from Den-O, this movie is a canon one, taking place in ep. 44 and 45. So I think it'd be a bigger risk to try creating a movie that doesn't derail, where if the movies are made poorly like the missed themes, at least it won't hurt the main series if those are non-canon. I do wonder how would the global terror initiative that "commits" meant by execution, I too want to hear something refreshing, even if it'd be just an idea here.

His disconnection stems from his belief that his past holds the answers to his sense of self, so a story that forces him to set aside what his memories have to offer in favor of a present surrounded by people who care for him, that?s going to be an excellent dilemma to base a W movie on. Like, this movie is about the value of Memories
and
memories, and how the lack thereof can?t keep you from being a hero.
This'd be another proof that Philip is really human, like I several times said, where how he feels really sentimental against Maria due to her resemblance to Shroud in his eyes, to the point that he's stated to not act like himself. Not a face reveal for Shroud though, Shroud's portrayed by Yuuki Ono while Maria is portrayed by Aya Sugimoto. Though like other times, this seems that Philip's emotional outburst is a hindrance here with him just being tricked by her (unless Philip does know earlier to disable Eternal's ability there), where it can reaffirm Philip's view of emotion being weakness, making Shotaro half-boiled in his eyes. Though for once unlike others, Philip's emotion here also aid him (in form of anger..) when he breaks free to stop Zone Memory and Eternal disabling T1 Gaia Memories. Lack of memory not preventing one to be a hero is also seen in the main protagonists which is the most righteous like Shouichi and Sento (a̶n̶d̶ ̶P̶h̶i̶l̶i̶p̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶m̶e̶ ̶i̶s̶ ̶m̶o̶r̶e̶ ̶l̶i̶k̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶K̶a̶t̶s̶u̶r̶a̶g̶i̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶m̶a̶i̶n̶ ̶p̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶i̶n̶ ̶W̶.̶.̶.̶ ̶n̶o̶t̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶b̶r̶u̶t̶a̶l̶ ̶a̶s̶ ̶h̶i̶m̶ ̶t̶h̶o̶u̶g̶h̶).

y, I find them charming now? Stuff like Skull providing the crucial Lost Driver to Shotaro, or the town of Fuuto lifting Double up with a gust of wind; it all reads as Magical Realism to me now, not some hacky writing or regrettable plot hole. Skull?s appearance is the theme of Memory, the power we imbue it with, and ways it can help us better protect our present. In a story freighted with the importance of Memories/memories, why
shouldn?t
the memory of Skull be a weapon for our heroes to call on? And the town of Fuuto ? maybe
literally
the town of Fuuto ? protecting its hero long enough for its hero to protect the town, man, that?s just an A+ ending. I can?t even slightly get mad at an ending that corny. That?s a refutation of Eternal?s villainous philosophy of Inhumanity As Freedom, the separation from community as a pathway to power. Here, it?s Double?s commitment to the townspeople that provides a route to victory.
Other than that, this movie features the re-appearence of almost every clients and/or people related to them of Narumi Detective Agency up to Weather Arc, like Yuko, Miyabi, Chizuru, Akane, Kaze, Jimmy, Lily, Akagi, etc. I guess for me personally, still I'd like it better if the people of Fuuto did take an actual action (still, of faith) by turning on every turbines of the city by themselves here (or they did, but not the people who're watching), that'd mean the people, particularly that they're once clients of Narumi Detective Agency, repaying W's actions directly (though by chance). Still though, I find most of W's finishers bland, and I got an idea for GoldXtreme... that is inspired from Riku Sanjo's next series Drive:
Spins around forming a huge golden tornado that pulls the victim (can also be used to spin Eternal's energy ball and hurl it back).
Then W lets the tornado affect him in which the tornado will spin around both W and victim with W also repeatedly kicks his victim (a bit inspired from Drive Type Speed's finisher).
Then W will kick victim out of tornado and finish him/her off with a kick that is enhanced with the huge golden tornado.

The trope of Evil Version Of The Hero, like, always works. Trope for a
reason
. The way Daidou needles at Philip?s insecurity, and then laughs at Philip?s connection to humanity, it gives the superhero side of this movie a lot to work with. Daidou?s scheme is born out of the same outsider frustration Philip has, the same need to find a connection, but Daidou gleefully solves it with citywide terror and a giant laser. The premise of this one totally delivers, which is a very low bar that not every Kamen Rider film clears!
Eternal just
looks
awesome, too. The sideways E on his forehead to play off of Double?s W antenna. The cape, the holsters, the knife; all boss as hell. The whole
movie
looks great, honestly. I love how they suspend the Hardboilder in the air for a couple shots, to make Shotaro and Double?s attacks look insanely epic. All of the weird lieutenant villains feel distinct and have memorable fights with multiple heroes. AND THE FIGHTS ARE ALL SO GOOD. This thing just looks
phenomenal
. Absolutely everything you love about the action of Kamen Rider W, but bigger and faster and cooler.
Evil counterpart without making his Rider form only a knockoff of the hero's. Both have died since little and got revived in their own ways, but while Philip can be cold-hearted and tactless at times, he still got his full piece of humanity and he does grow to be better while Daidou becomes what'd be expected of his body modification that his humanity got altered along with his body. Other than his militaric looks, I guess Eternal would be a climatic villain that isn't one that can feel anticlimatic, where both Terror and Utopia can give that vibe (it's to enforce their partnership though as a theme, albeit unknown what'd happen if W CycloneJokerXtreme faced both Terror Dopant and Terror Dragon, the partnership extends to Accel too that time, also using W's Hardboilder combinations) that at the beginning it beats W CycloneJokerXtreme (didn't expect that, considering the end fight that I did watch, even before the GoldXtreme part).
Otherwise, this movie explains that the defeated NEVER members turn into dust, which was why Kazu disintegrates in what I think a similar way as people in Ryuki's Mirror World. Metal Dopant's weapon also reminds me of Imperer's Gazellestab (Spin Vent), and he too was a mercenary Rider in said series. Shotaro's a flirt and casanova, but I hope he didn't show sympathy for the victimized Reika only because she's a (hot) girl, as there'd be more NEVER members turned into dust later, or if not W accepts that NEVER members would become that. I find it wrong though for the part that Hardboilder gets sandwiched... if W slams the Hardboilder to the right one... why also kick the left one with right leg...

Saeko!
Saeko acts as a clearly-filmed-separately Greek Chorus! But there?s also a half-dozen characters I smiled at remembering (that AKB48 gag!), a cool moment for Shotaro and Terui to acknowledge each other?s commitment to justice in a manly way, and an entire subplot where Akiko is horny and Terui treats her like a little sister. (I have never loved their ?romance?, and that didn?t change today.) Just, like, everyone?s in this.
Everyone
.
Probably a wasted set up that both of the Narumi Detective Agency/Fuuto PD and Museum are in simiar situation that both can't use their T1 Gaia Memory... and that they can create enemy mine situation, temporarily working out together for mutual aim. Shotaro takes the bigger credit between the scene of him and Terui, as Shotaro's the main reason behind Terui's commitment to justice now, Shotaro's the heart of the team, and he transformed (henshined?) the vengeful and hate-filled Terui into a warrior in a side of love (albeit he did attempt to quickly end Wakana at last episodes). The appeal of Akiko and Terui's romance is that, it's not the main Rider getting paired with the main girl, but instead the secondary one.
