Yeah, I wasn't trying to invalidate anyone who writes slashfic as a way of expressing representation when, as you say, hetero stuff is way more common outside of that. I was more phrasing it like how that has come to be seen as representative of fanfic and fan-spaces as a whole, much like how the perception of anime for a while was "Oh so it's weird tentacle stuff and/or Pokemon" which meant anything that wasn't that was ignored. There's nothing wrong with slash fanfic, but sometimes it can feel like fandom is 90% ships, which again, comes back to sex and romance being everywhere.
