Go here is not a reference to the number 5 in Japanese, it is a reference to the English word Go as in ?going strong? or ?let?s go?. Plus there?s 6 rangers anyways, not 5. But for the evil rangers, Rogue Five, it has only 5 rangers (+ 1 auxillary member), so, yeah?

88 million years ago, 6 tribes, the Fire Tribe, Water Tribe, Earth Tribe, Lightning Tribe, Wind Tribe and Metal Tribe lived happily ever after in earth. But, one day, a group of evil alien monsters known as the Nether Tribe tried to conquer earth. With the help of the legendary God Beasts, 6 chosen warriors from the 6 tribes, known as the ancient Kaisers, protected earth and defeated Nether Tribe. The Nether Tribe were then sealed in a place far, far away.

In the present day, the Nether Tribe has resurrected from their deep sleep and they wanted revenge against humanity. A group of scientists working at INECT were there to see it all. Knowing that the earth is at peril, they gathered as much information as they can on how to stop the Nether Tribe once and for all. Through an ancient scroll, they found out about the legendary God Beasts and the ancient Kaisers who worked together to protect earth and defeat the Nether Tribe. They researched on the lineage and found that out of the 6 tribes, five of them, the Fire Tribe, the Water Tribe, the Earth Tribe, the Lightning Tribe and the Wind Tribe have descendants who are still alive and well. They scouted and recruited them to their team. Using modern day science and technology, they managed to reawaken the mythological powers of the legendary God Beasts and the ancient Kaisers. With these reawakened powers, the recruits must follow their ancestors footsteps and defeat the Nether Tribe once and for all as the God Beast Squadron Go-Kaisers.
