Man, what an episode. I haven't seen such world-building since Build.
There was a lot to unpack here. So thirty years ago the Vistamps were developed to release inner demons for military projects. Coincidentally, thirty years ago was when a certain demon-esque Rider came out on theatres, so now I have this funny image of Vail and Shin duking it out. Jokes aside, I can totally see why Chigusa went rogue now. And considering that they're still researching Giff, I take it that they still haven't given up on the whole 'military demon' thing.
What I do want to know is how Giff's coffin ended up in the Deadmans' possession in the first place. I don't think they ever explained that. But considering Olteca and the Fenix dude (I can't remember his name) were shown to be mutual acquaintances, I guess (theory time) the Fenix dude (or at the very least someone in Fenix) handed over Giff to the Deadmans cult to create an excuse to continue the Vistamp project. Considering how Genta had his heart cut out to remove Vail, I would assume that the government tried to scrap the demon project to prevent future incidents only for the Deadmans to 'show up', forcing them to allow the Vistamp project to continue in order to combat this threat. This is pure speculation on my part so far though.
Also, I assume the Gifu cells enabled Genta to survive having his heart removed.
