Refusing to hesitate isn't necessarily about being ruthless (which is outright severe bad trait) though like what Kagerou prided on, similar to how being assertive and saying no to something you don't like/want isn't necessarily being an asshole or hostile. Which is also how these type of lesson can be mistakenly utilized, not applying improvement on moral goals, but to interpret this ('balance') as in actually adding malicious traits to yourself (at least becoming 50% good 50% bad... of which the more bad the better).

Hey, they did say that Sakura had the bigger potential compared to her 2 older brothers! They should be living up on this which they seem do (Ikki got stronger Rider forms though).

I don't think they need to have many heroic acts or such (even then Kagerou only saved Sakura for his own benefit and... felt like Kagerou tried to corrupt Daiji here in the name of making him 'stronger' by making him give in into more cold detached traits) to hope for redemption in them or being merciful on them - actually one shouldn't go overboard on bad guys if they're able to. Like it's shown in Ikki previously prefering to separate Deadmans in individuals like Kudo and Haitani. Even with how ruthless Kagerou is, obviously it'd be better for Daiji if both live peacefully like Ikki and Vice now, it's not comfortable living with clinging enemy. Kagerou also had something he's slightly better than early Vice... he doesn't blindly try to attack Daiji's family like Vice as well as not being a cannibal.
