So I know that I was just saying that I wasn't always a big fan of how the show rewrote the returning characters. This is one of the cases where I really like the altered versions. I would absolutely watch an entire series that's just Takumi and Kusaka: Laundry Detectives.

I missed that the first time, too. Didn't realize it until I saw the movie again as part of my Fourze rewatch. It's a nice touch, but also shows just how far down the cast list they had to go to find someone who wasn't a) filming the Bleach movie, b) in a cult, or c) otherwise unavailable. It's a pity that they had to go to movie characters, especially since it's likely why Fourze and Faiz had to share a tribute two-parter.

Well, with the events of Faiz being erased from history, it only stands to reason that Kusaka would still be alive. If there's one thing I can't complain about with Zi-O, it's that the writers really did their homework on the original shows. There are places where it will be more obvious, but there's a lot of respect for the source material's continuity.
