Interesting! The three-parter definitely has a lot of room for Asakura and Ryuga, no doubt about that. Glad you had a good time with them!

Tachibana being overlooked both here AND in the Fourze tribute is a bit of a failure for this show.

Mutsuki being overlooked is an incredibly successful tribute to Kamen Rider Blade.

They did, however, completely ignore any of Blade crossover appearances. They never happened as far as this show is concerned.

This kinda makes sense, for reasons I won't talk about.

It's a weird thing Kamen Rider will occasionally do for a reunion or for Legend appearances, and I don't love it. To not even have a line or two to retcon past appearances, or to spend the extra time in the plotting stage to not invalidate other stories... man, it's a little insulting for fans.

Sure! Kaitou's not a good guy! He's a selfish thief who's motivated by his own sense of personal fulfillment and/or getting Tsukasa's attention. He definitely doesn't care if he's inconveniencing Geiz or Sougo!

Maybe? This is a family problem, which is possibly the only reason Hajime showed up. Amane's like a daughter to him, so he's absolutely going to put her safety above everyone else's.

I'm not a huge fan of the Ride Armors, so, no, I didn't really care about it here. I like the idea, though, for sure. Shows keeping suits relevant even as power-ups appear is a Few And Far Between situation in Phase 2, the sort of thing that's extra cool in a Fourze summer movie or a late-stage Ghost story, and that's all we get. I just wish it were happening with suits I liked better!

As far as tribute's go, this episode and the next are Zi-O's high point. Not to say that the show goes downhill from here - my favorite single moment in the show is still to come - but the Blade episodes represent probably the strongest use of legacy characters, for my money. I cannot express how much I love that Amane is Another Blade. It's such a good use of the pre-existing characters and lore to set up a story that really feels like a continuation of the original show. Amane searching for Hajime, Hajime trying to protect Amane, the two Jokers being drawn to fight each other: there is so much good content here for Blade fans.

It does a great job of balancing the melodrama of Hajime and Kenzaki's sacrifice, as well as making Amane's emotional state such a spotlight. Definitely written by someone who liked Blade a lot!
