Geiz is such a compelling weirdo, like all of these kids. This whole movie is about him watching his future vanish in an instant, and then trying to work out what comes next. That should be a movie full of disappointment and anger, but this movie builds out those obvious reactions with the way less obvious Geiz things of annoyed dismissal, frustrated embarrassment, and a steady stream of obstinate self-regard.

I'm okay with this, because a lot of the main series was about characters like Geiz and Sougo learning lessons about societal responsibility outside of killing (Geiz) and how the safety network of friends is worth more than power (Sougo), and these versions either already know that, or are learning it in this movie. It's fine for the narrative to shortcut that stuff on a second run-thru, I think?

That's a bummer, for sure! Maybe there's a non-Covid timeline where Toei was able to give us "Tsukuyomi, Dynasty" or whatever.
