I agree about Ryuki (however, it was the first show of its kind, no wonder it stumbled a lot), but Blade... Kenzaki saves his friend in an almost hopeless situation and dooms himself to eternal damnation and loneliness. Kouta kills his friend (which could easily have been avoided if Mai knew how to make decisions) and becomes a god living with the beauty girl in paradise. I would not call it the best development of the idea.
But who really, in my opinion, developed the Blade idea better, is OOO. Because in the series finale, it is Ankh who returns Agee to the light side and sacrifices himself. Which makes their friendship not as one-sided as in Blade and clearly demonstrates Ankh's character development under Eiji's positive influence.
