Ha ha, that's great! I thought the Theme Park Manager did a really good job imbuing his character with humanity, despite, uh,
firing the main character from his dream job
. There's a sense that Aruto's being fired subjectively because he's not very funny (he oversells every punchline, even for theme park stand-up comedy), but objectively because the theme park guests are happier with a different performer. He's protecting his customer's happiness, which is exactly what Aruto wants. That all comes together really well, and it's partly through the Theme Park Manager's performance.

Like, when I was a really little kid, I even harbored vague notions of becoming a stand-up comedian for a while?
Too bad the sense of duty that comes with translation policing got in the way.
A dream deferred!
Also, real question: Was Aruto not a popular Rider on his debut? I found him instantly compelling, and way easier to understand than Sougo. Did people not like this goofball?

The camera moves were exceptionally fluid across the back half of the episode, with my favorite shot being when Zero-One runs at the monster right after the Henshin sequence. The cut comes in and Zero-One
sprints
towards his enemy, and the camera can barely keep up. Great direction!

Pretty callous way to mention the tragedy of Daybreak Town!

My interest in Aruto at this episode(and the entire show, ngl?) is not "I like/sympatheize with this character and their motivations, and would like to see them uphold/defend those as a Rider". It's more of "How will being a Rider (and the president too, ig) change this guy's life?" Being a charasmtic protagonist that instantly wins you over from the beginning is one thing, but shoving some weird litle freak into the audience's hands and going "trust me on this one!", isn't that more exciting to see?
Ha ha, well, this answers my Did People Not Like Aruto question! I guess I don't think he's that weird? He's remarkably level-headed in his initial refusal to be Hiden's CEO (no training, no interest, the Board doesn't want him there: easy pass), but will commit to anything if it means protecting people (him taking the driver from Izu was
so cool
). He's got some growing up to do, but I never felt like he was weirder or more hopeless than most of the last ten years of Riders.

You bet! These tiny mans come in handy.

Yeah, it's a thing I missed a lot when going through the Phase 1 Heisei stuff: how cacophonous the finishers could be. Again, Ex-Aid, so I really appreciated how bonkers and colorful and loud and
all-encompassing
Zero-One's first Rider Kick was. It was so powerful he almost hurt himself in the aftermath!

Sure, it's maybe not my favorite
ever
, but I think it's a really effective base suit. It looks like a hero's suit!

Yeah, Horobi and Valkyrie... those are going to hurt a little, but at least they're neither impossible to find nor Eternal Expensive. The bigger problem is that I've yet to see a Zero-One Figuart I wouldn't want to own, and Bandai produced about
two dozen figures
for the line. Gonna be an expensive fall!
