It doesn't say Humagears
have
to be the answer to everything, that human potential itself is important, where most of these kinds of stories either pick one or the other, this shows what's most important to these kinds of stories and what I believe to be the right way in telling it, balance. Humans and machines as equals, not picking a side to show who's better, which is something a lot more things could afford to do. It's beautiful, because it's not biased to one side but shows both sides.
Aruto sort of vetting people, to determine who's deserving of Humagears... it's a nice little fairy tale of how we'd like our corporate overlords to treat us. The idea of Jeff Bezos (or whomever) meeting a family and helping them figure out if an Alexa is right for their situation, that's such a charmingly optimistic hope for late-stage capitalism and technology that I love it. The reality is far more inhumane and rapacious, so why
not
give kids a view of how technology sales should work if we actually had companies that cared about their customers? Maybe one of the kids watching this episode will be in a position someday to do things better.
