Wouldn't be more helpful to observe Humagears who approach/obtain Singularity to better understand them and determine what they can contribute than hitting the "turn to scrap metal" button at the slightest hint of an awakening?

I mean, if my iPhone suddenly had an agenda of its own, I don't think I'd be very generous and sympathetic to its sentience and individuality. One, I paid a big chunk of change for that phone, and I'd be a little miffed if that investment was like Let's Talk Salary or whatever. Second, I need a phone! I don't care if that phone would rather be a math teacher or a pilot or something else! I need it to be a phone. And that's not even getting into the larger problem of a terrorist group reprogramming my newly-sentient phone to murder people. Feels like terror is the natural reaction to all of that?

But, yeah, this show is definitely trying to talk about... I was going to get into this later, but let's do it now. This show is trying to talk about parenthood, and how scary it can be, but also how beautiful it can be. You bring life into this world (or adopt life), and you become responsible for what it might turn into. You can guide it, steer it, punish it, reward it, but it's going to turn into something you can't really control. All you can do is hope that you've created something good, instead of something that's going to hurt people. The discussion about that, raising someone and hoping they'll surpass you -- even if by surpassing you, they become something you don't understand -- is pretty much what this show's being talking about since Episode 1.
