Yeah, I... the show really wants to sell Gai as some omniscient, Machiavellian schemer, but he's mostly just What If Kuroto Was Swartz. (Thouser even jacks things!!!) The actor has an irresistibly smarmy presence, which keeps the character appealing to me, but his plans are alternately impossibly complex and ridiculously clumsy. He's thought of everything, while missing what's right in front of him. Which, yeah, there's some interesting character stuff to that type of antagonist, but it doesn't make for the most intriguing supervillain plots.
