A hypocrite is a person in the process of changing. Gai doesn't know how to cope with failure, so after a streak of humiliating defeats, he was forced to choose between his desire for perfection or his morality. He declared war on Metsuboujinrai for hijacking the ZAIASpecs and now he's doing the same thing, for profit. After an ultimatum to reveal evidence of his crimes to the world if he doesn't step down, he snapped. The fact that he doesn't have a way to frame what he almost did as being anybody else's fault but his own is a sign of how unsustainable his dishonest way of life has become. This is his last chance. Gai needs to change now, or else he won't be able to come back.
