This is pretty much where I'm at on this plotline as well. Like yeah, the ending stinger of this ep with Ikki awkwardly smiling and whispering "Uh... Vice who are these people?" as Daiji and Sakura desperately try to grin and bear with the situation is amazingly well done, but like... I wasn't really invested in Ikki that much during the show, so him being "gone" doesn't really do a lot for me.

It's guarantied (in my opinion) to be a role reversal, Vice (as the MC's non-human companion) will be the one that losses all his memories, and then Ikki and will spend the rest of his days helping Vice make new ones. It's a cliche been done tons of times in other stories.
