According to the Wiki (not word-for-word), both Nobuhiko and Kotaro are born on the same day as candidates of the next Century King. They were once friends but butt heads once Nobuhiko became evil and had a change of heart. Nobuhiko decided to start this kaijin uprising while Kotaro steps in in order to stop him.
