Actually, right the previous series has a close primary and secondary Rider bond, in Ikki and Daiji. Daiji had insecurities towards Ikki, but he didn't act on it, Kagerou does, Daiji genuinely cares about him. It's quite the reverse development of many secondaries to have Daiji becoming hostile later due to losing Kagerou, but before htat he was amiable to the primary Rider for most of the time. Yeah being a jerk doesn't mean evil (and there are villains who are well-mannered too), and anti-hero is a subcategory of hero, it has no relation of being villainous (they're heroes but has unheroic traits, with Michinaga being selfish and unfettered). Riders outside of primary Riders (though dunno what Ace can do later) but are on good side are often anti-heroic like Taiga from Ex-Aid (tertiary) there.
