Faithful adaptations are fine... especially in the earlier days of the internet. Before we had access to stuff like the official subs via shout factory sure it'll be a while until they catch up but its much needed i feel.

LIke dont get me wrong I enjoyed Time Force, while i need to sit down and watch time force from start to finish again- As much as i remember it did a decent job sticking to the Time Ranger STory with minor tweaks here and there. But at the same time... thats fine when watching Time Ranger was much harder to do.

In fact I feel some of the best ranger series are ones that turn the source material on its head. 1:1 is osmetihng you have to do with anime and manga mostly, something you have to do with subs/dubs. Adaptations have a level of freedom like comic series wehre your allowed to do new things.

I mean for a PR version of Kyuranger i personally think 1 fun thing would of been to have each Ranger hail from a different PR world. Like make Yellow from Aquitar- or even be half aquitian to minimize the need to return to aquitar- but that could also explain why in some fights yellow isn't present - he's back home recovering.

Could have someone else be from Mirinoi, someone from The lion Galaxy (our lead perhaps)

Depending on WHEN its set... Blue could be Sirian like Dekamaster- hell we know his race was wiped out but what if Blue's parents were off world at the time- I mean I'm assuming they had space faring tech so its not unreasonable to think that there could be a handful of Sirians out there.

Yeah i dont think we have enough named worlds that really line up but they could totally make use of those that are named.

But yeah theres some minor issues with the idea of a "faithful" adapt at times cause at that point your just writing a dub of a classic Godzilla movie or something.


EDIT: also...there is NOTHING TOT RESTORE in the frame of your other posts . Ninja storm is NOT Hurricanger, Dino Thunder is NOT Abaranger, SPD is NOT Dekaranger... you cant restore what is not missing. I saw in one thread you mentioned Sailor STars with the Viz Dub. Yes that was a case of them doing something special for Sailor moons 20th. It was skipped due to tv regulations at the time and just the group in charge of dubbing it not feeling there was a good enough way to handle the oddity that was Stars... with the phages and such often causing some cross dressing bits and such. There was just too much in it that would of made 90s/early 2000s Soccer moms furious beyond reason. I mean after all they had to try and mask Hotaru and Michiru/Amara and Michelle's relationship. Try airing Stars where they live together with Hotaru as thier adopted daughter liek yeah they could change Hotaru's dialogue to remove the mama/papa bits so dialogue is easy to avoid but theres just too much in Stars to air it in the US back in the day.

So when they started dubbing Crystal they also comitted to use the same cast for Crystal to dubt Stars and RE DUB the old stuff to make it seamless. But thats a Dub... not an adaptation.

PR is an adaptation its all about putting a twist on stuff. Good Doctor(US) and Good Doctor (korea) i'm sure are very different shows despite Good Doctor(US) being US verison an ADAPTATION of the korean verison. Because obviosuly theres bound to be different rules in place in Korea and the US.

But yeah the idea that theres stuff missing from the adaptations is laughable because they are not their source material. Old anime dubs that cut episodes and edit stuff for tv reasons yes theres stuff that can be restored because it is just meant to be an english version of the show- even cases when the show name gets changed I'd argue that Tokyo Mew Mew and Mew Mew Power are The same show- even if Mew mew Power is heavily wattered down. Its not really an adaptation its just a censored version. I mean I'd say Anna and the Snow Queen is the same as Frozen- just having a differnet name doesnt change it. But yeah PR was never supposed to be the sentai version- other wise they could of jsut done a silly dub of the sentai footage if that was the goal because hey plenty of Kungfu and karate movies got silly dubs.
