Alternatively, the Ninja Raise Buckle sensed that Tycoon was in an injured state and soon to be either retired or killed, so it determined that it was fair to give the advantage to a doomed player to ensure the least severe of those two outcomes. Like a consolation prize.

Even though the Riders have a mutual objective in defeating Jyamato, they're still in conflict for their individual desires. Geats actively pursuing a secret mission to obtain a Raise Buckle would become a liability to him if there's the risk of it helping a rival gain an advantage in the game. I'm just curious how much imbalance there might be in the system that could potentially screw players who take risks for higher rewards.
