I don't... I might be misremembering the Rogue specials through the rose-colored glasses of Gentoku's late-series brilliance, but I thought those specials helped humanize him and contextualize his motivations in the same way Naki gets here. The sort of joke of this one is that there's literally nothing else we need to know about Gai, so here's some crucial character stuff for Naki. With Rogue, it was helpful to see some of the decisions Gentoku was making before he got so broken they needed to literally slap a FRAGILE sticker on his head.

The karaoke stuff was pretty great, though.
