I think it gets it less now because Zi-O and Saber (and in some places Zero-One) have replaced it by being the easy go-to joke. At the time, Ghost was the worst regarded series of about 5 years (Gaim to Build), so it got it the worst.

EDIT - I think a lot of it also has to do with watching a show weekly making it come of as much worse than someone watching it as a legacy show, and time does heal a lot of bitterness people have. If you're putting all your expectations on the weekly to be the best thing ever, and it's not, you're going to be disappointed and rage, but if it's just another episode in an arc you can watch in a day and appreciate as a whole, both good and bad, it's a different experience.

Yeah, my only issues with Ghost are that it had a weak endgame and Specter didn't really have much depth. Everything else was great, though. I look back on it about as fondly as I do Drive.

Sometimes I don't really understand the tastes of the Toku fandom. Like...I also enjoyed Ninninger, another highly-criticized show. But the thing is...I feel like it's criticized for being weak at things that Sentai doesn't focus on, like having a strong overarching story. No, Sentai is and always has been about the team facing a monster while one member of the team has character development along the way. That's the core of what Sentai is, and that's probably what Ninninger was best at. I don't think Ninninger is an amazing show, but the thing it does right is probably the most important aspect of Sentai as a whole.

Sorry, I know this topic is about Kamen Rider, but Sentai had the best example I could think of.
