In the absence of anything tangible from the first four episodes, I've definitely headcanoned those three as Calibur's Awful Sons (Who He Loves Very Much). At this point, I'm sort of hoping I never learn anything that might contradict this impression?

That would've helped, yes! Or if Kento's appearances felt less like the actor was just turning up for scenes where he's not in the script! This episode goes a long way towards making Kento's role clear as Touma's friend -- as opposed to Rintaro's "friend from work" thing, since this show is completely and utterly a workplace dramedy. (But that's what I like best about it!) It just... boy, it doesn't seem to treat it as more than a random element, rather than a crucial piece of the narrative. I'd like to see more consistent follow-through on this stuff, you know?
