I'm still leaning toward Papillon being a Rose of Versailles situation, where they're born a princess but live life as a prince, but I think it's definitely still possible that Papillon is male.

If they do go Rose of Versailles with Papillon I wouldn't mind seeing Mina Asami from Maskman cameo as Papillon's maternal figure. We've had Haruta and Hagiwara come back to the franchise for Kyoryuger before so I think it would be a fun idea.
