I love how each fight has a moment for Rintaro to be told that his place is in the final battle, not these preliminary rounds. Everyone gets that Rintaro's important except Rintaro. Same as always! He's the best!

It's one for the ages, absolutely. It's Storious telling this long story designed to kick the legs out from under Touma, and then Touma's like You Have No Idea Why We Do This. It's another riff on the (terrific) Isaac rebuttal, where Touma is furious that this guy could get it all so wrong.

This is a point I've already gone over, and will go over more at the Series Wrap-Up post, but Storious is another thing in the show that works great due to months of maddening choices and dull performances. He has to be wallpaper in order to be a compelling final boss, but it also means you've got DOZENS of episodes to watch him be wallpaper. No amount of quality here will make those choices retroactively entertaining, because you can't overwrite how you felt back then. Are these episodes worth that? Is the trade-off worthwhile? That's up to the individual viewer.

(It also means it's WAY easier to think back fondly on stuff that wasn't anything special in the moment, which makes discussing these things from two different points in time sort of bizarre. If I rewatched this show in a couple years, I'd probably be much more generous, knowing where it all goes. Doesn't make it easier to watch it the first time, though!)
