May be. I can't really judge without seeing the movie in its entirety. For me, the main difference is that in the original we saw first the cruelty of the Shocker, and only then the reciprocal brutality of the rider. Here, the sequence is reversed and it is as if it is difficult to imbue the hero. Plus, again, the clumsy dialogues of the characters do not really contribute to this.
