So fun fact, Wataru Hyuuga, the guy playing Daiji, modelled his performance as “K-Daiji” on Tom Hiddleston as Loki in The Avengers (specifically, The Avengers, from what I can tell. Not any of the Thor movies or his Disney+ show, which give him a bit nuance).

And as a Sakamoto episode (feels weird we haven’t mentioned directors so far, but that’s what happens when Fish Sandwich isn’t a regular commenter. All I can say is that the guy playing George, Noritaka Hamao, got super excited whenever he worked with someone who directed Kuuga), there’s a lot of alumnus from older Tokusatsu shows.

The three scammers in this arc are respectively Hiroya Matsumoto, previously Tsubasa/MagiYellow in Magiranger, Jin/Beet Buster in Go-Busters and Hoshi Minato in Kyuranger, as the older male, Mizuki Saiba, previously Kakihara in the Yodonna specials (and as a recurring guest role beforehand in Kiramager) as the sole female and Tetsuji Sakibara, who was previously Spada/Kajiki Yellow in Kyuranger (there’s a lot of Kyuranger alumnus in later Revice media, owing to the producer having worked on that show. Heck, we already have one, since the guy voicing Vice was the narrator/mecha voice for that show) as the younger male. Those facts are being shared so I can segue into this.

George: Currently, you’re more like Taketora Kureshima, what with this whole Daiji business.

(Suddenly, the Older Male Scammer, Younger Male Scammer and Female Scammer all enter)

OMS: Excuse me, but do you need us for anything?

Vice: (points at YMS) Hey, Ikki. I’m sure I’ve seen that guy before. Something to do with being a good chef…

YMS: (thumbs upping) Grazie!

OMS: Oh shit, you broke character.

FS: Mou, Atsuta, why did I agree to this?

Vice: Alright you guys, this joke’s exhausted itself. Vamoose! Depart! Seiza Go!

(Taking the hint, the three leave)

Ikki: What was that all about?

Production notes for this segment: The originally planned joke was for a bait and switch where when Kagerou appears to stir up trouble again, a woman with blonde hair and a white dress appears to give them a warning… it’s Sakura wearing a wig to prepare for her role as the mother in a production of Red Riding Hood. She then forces Kagerou to play Red to help her remember their lines. It was scrapped because I couldn’t figure out how to have it make logical sense.
