Those which change. Those which never change. And those that don't want to change.
Figure-Rise Standard Shin Kamen Rider
I went to my local comic book store in search for FRS Blade and ended up with Shin Kamen Rider. The kit commands a premium price tag but the figure is rather basic. With only a pair of fist hands and a pair of chopping hands, and very limited articulation, you're left with just a handful of poses. The only other accessory is an alternative scarf.
I can't deny the end result is a very good looking figure. There are two shades of green, a subtle leather grain texture on the black parts, and it even uses clear parts for the "tears" of the helmet. In terms of stickers, they are mostly for the belt. I painted everything and only used the stickers for the mask sensor and markings on the back of the helmet.
A mixture of Gundam EX White and Metallic Pink for paint behind the eyes. Gundam EX Silver on the belt, Metallic red for detail on the belts, and solid black and Gundam panel line marker for various other details. Metallic grey for the chest zipper and tiny bolts on the armor panels. I also used fake eyelashes to replace the hair piece. There are 4 layers of eyelashes glued to a modified hair piece. It's the first time I did anything like this for a model and it was fun, if a bit silly. I also sanded all over the red scarfs to remove some shine then added brown panel liner. I might hit them with some matte spray to give it a further fabric look.
After I saw Shin Kamen Rider in the theater, I was inclined to buy the figuart but I'm glad I went with the model kit. It looks a bit more screen accurate and the hair was fun to do. If you are interested in this kit, I hope you can find it on sale in the future because the current price of $52 is too steep for what you get. It's nice but doesn't compare to the other Kamen Riders in the line. Now to find Blade...
