Yeah, there's far too much contradictory stuff in the Karizaki backstory to feel like where we landed was also how we were supposed to get here. Nothing about the Karizakis ever really landed for me, and I'd've been shocked if this one had managed it somehow.

Seriously, though, the thing I like about this Narratively Convenient Amnesia is that it isn't some dumb pre-show detail that'll come back to haunt our cast at the most narratively-convenient time -- maybe right before the Winter Crossover. It's the
consequence
of a year's worth of storytelling, robbing our hero of what he cares for the most, and making the people he loves suffer for it instead of him. The irony of that!

I really liked Bon coming back! It's a nice quick way of refuting the opening narrative of people with devils being of no use to society. Bon can reform, and Ikki and Vice helped him do it. Nice story to come back to, near the end.
