Otherwise, about being very invested in keeping his relative alive, it happens notably in ep. 8 where he was self-righteous to dismiss other Riders' wants in his strategy against the boss, but some people seem to be in denial that Keiwa can ever be in the wrong, only demonizing everyone else for being at odds with him (rejecting his strategy doesn't mean leaving people to die, they're still going to face the final boss, only want to do so with other way than just being baits).
Exactly. He's always had these characteristics from the beginning, but people seem to just brush them aside in order to make him this super clean good guy, when Keiwa has always been an example of how good people aren't always perfect, and can and do have more selfish sides to them as well. And to call out his "change" as being forced is sort of missing the point because yes, it is being forced. By Kekera. Who has been clearly manipulating Keiwa into becoming the sort of Kamen Rider that he likes.

Also, dunno if this is what you're saying here, but Michinaga should stop being pitted as Ace's equal. Previously, when both are in Command Twin, Keiwa can put some fight to Ace though Ace always had the upper hand, and later in those Michinaga screentimes, Ace also can fight him off using both Jamato/Zombie Buckle and even Command Twin, using only Magnum - both Keiwa and Michinaga are more on similar levels, they're Riders who can't stand up to final boss in 2nd DGP, unlike Ace, and Keiwa was "powerless" because he's left out in power to only use Ninja compared to Ace's LaserBoost and Michinaga's Jamashin powers, don't ignore those to only talk about characters' personalities (and glorify destructive emotions for Buffa's case), his solution is to get more powerful Buckle, but in ep. 31, Keiwa performs better than Michinaga (Fever zombie) with stronger item (Command Twin) against Dunkleosteus Jamato, so it's not that he's a noob carried by stronger item in this case. Ep. 41 makes it official in their untransformed bout.
I'm not putting Ace and Michinaga on the same level, I'm just stating that Keiwa isn't as skilled or powerful as either of them. Of course Michinaga isn't Ace's equal. It takes a sneak attack for him to beat Ace, and literal invincibility to keep Ace
from
beating him up. The thing about Keiwa's powerlessness is that it's not just him being the case of being overpowered by someone stronger, it's always someone who's willing to take advantage of different factors and the like, unlike him who normally doesn't.
In
Encounter
, it's Ace taking advantage of his newbie status to get the Boost Buckle in the first round and later on convincing him to risk his life in the Kick the Can Game so that he could fulfill a Secret Mission to get the Ninja Buckle.
In
Divergence
, it's Daichi pretending to be a listening ear, only for him to try and fuck him over by pinning him as the Desastar due to his reluctance to fight the Jyamato since he thinks it's Shirowe back from the dead.
In
Lamentation
, it's... basically something every round. First round, he gets put out of commission, leaving Ace to save the day and get Boost MKII. Second round... nothing that I can remember, actually. Third round, Keiwa does well only to get sneak attacked by the Dunkleosteus Jyamato and loses his fight. Final round, we all know what happens there. This is basically the arc where Keiwa suffers the most.
In
Yearning
, it's his quite literal powerlessness to beat an invincible Jyamashin!Michinaga who keeps ragging on him for his beliefs, as well as seeing him beat his sister who got dragged into the DGP/DR
again
and forcibly retired against her will (which is a fair thing to worry about, considering how we've seen people's personalities change after their desires get removed, so who knows what could've happened to her). And then the Grand End takes his memories and Desire Driver, leaving him powerless again.
And we don't need to go over what happened in
Genesis
, considering what's happening. So considering how so much of Keiwa's powerlessness came because others took actions by any means necessary, it's no wonder why Keiwa decided to do the same, too.

The good-natured characters' (like Keiwa) shortcomings such as being naive and gullible being endlessly brought up, likely dismissing how he can keep as plot armor, and concluding those as how you should encourage cruelty to "eliminate weaknesses and get ahead" (how Kekera-like fans emerge), when writing kind character as naive is only a writing chouce, while rough and mean characters like Michinaga had them being depicted as sensible, tough, badass, realistic (playing up cynicism as this), and mature, and if they fail, they're considered as the writers giving them the short end of the stick, overlooking their own shortcomings like how being reckless and stubborn holds them back at games like DGP where cooperation is required, or not maximizing what they have like using guns only as melee weapon, and actually gets killed in ep. 15 even if Zombie did its work. Michinaga does get to win in JGP, but Beroba also deserves credit in that.
It always ends up like this. People talk up the Riders they like more and talking down on the ones they disagree with, and always disregarding the flaws in their favorite Rider and the strengths with the Rider they disagree with.
