I was already planning to rewatch Ryuki before the reveal of their appearance in this movie, so it just turned out that way. There's nothing wrong with your approach either though, it's all personal preference. For me, I was concerned that watching this movie too early would've pulled me out of the experience of Ryuki, as I wanted to see the characters progress gradually from start to end. But if I'd known in advance how irrelevant they'd be, I would've watched it weeks ago. It's true that there are parallels to the DGP Riders, but it's all on a surface level of trivia and doesn't really contribute much to the story.

Well, it might be a moot point to complain about a baby having no character to relate to (Salamandes cheats by having a sudden growth spurt), but the way the story goes from casually introducing the new Igarashi to making that the catalyst for the plot seems way too convenient. Like so many problems with Revice, there's no plausible sense of time between major events. This baby didn't exist for 19 years after the previous sibling's birth, but Kinoshita clearly only writes for the plot, so now there's a baby, which if you remove, the plot totally falls apart.

I just feel like it's another unnecessary attempt to subvert viewer expectations. Even Vice makes a big deal about how happy the cinema-goers must be to see him back and how heartbroken they'd be if he left them again. The twist of his borrowed time is delivered through the same tedious exposition that Revice always does, which leaves me with the same apathy I felt towards Ikki's memory loss problem. It's always, "oh no, this bad thing is happening", but I can't suspend my disbelief for problems that are only created by the writer's vanity.

I've definitely had problems with other DGP Riders' desires, like Neon's to disappear and Keiwa's to bring back all the dead, but this is the first time I've had a problem with one of Ace's desires. Even though it's a rare selfless desire in early Geats that doesn't further his search for Mitsume, it's also half-a**ed, negligible, when there was the simple option to just bring back Vice. If Ikki truly values Vice as family, then why isn't he willing to try and save him like he would for his siblings? If Ace understands the suffering of remembering a lost family member and frequently tells people they're better off forgetting, then why does he think Ikki should remember? These guys just left Vice to die, or disappear anyway, for reasons that I cannot make sense of.

Yeah, Kaima is like an unhealthy version of Neon, where instead of searching for validation outside his toxic family environment, he desperately clings to the hope that by making himself useful as an obedient company asset, he can earn the approval of his father, who actually doesn't deserve his loyalty. It's a tragic depiction of unrequited love in the familial sense, which I would've liked to see explored more in Revice, instead of only idealizing the concept of happy family. Something like Rintarou's arc in Saber. I think Kaima had the potential to be an intriguing character, but alas, he was overshadowed. Even Kaima's father's arrest doesn't get much reaction from the Ultimate Busybody beyond "damn".
