and everyone who wrote that Neon craved non-romantic love. Because in order to fulfill her wish, Kyuun was relocated to our time on a permanent basis.
Yeah, I think the whole becoming a god thing was too sudden, considering the show's logic already established that a god cannot have free will and Ace had previously rejected godhood to keep it, which is somehow irrelevant now that his physical body was destroyed. It's also contrary to his statement of the arc, that he would create a world where everybody can be happy, but turns out there's no room for Ace. He did exactly the opposite of what Mitsume wanted for him and now the Ukiyo family are missing their son.
Regarding Neon's turn towards romantic focus, I'm okay with it, since her original desire of finding true love was already granted by her parents, so it makes sense that she would find a new desire after that. I don't mind Neon/Kyuun being canon now, since Kyuun has become a better person, but I respect that Fredbob392 will disagree.

Not all the incarn-Ace-tions have the Uk. initial though. Yakumo, Garfield and Lee are very different names, while the name Ace would be forgotten in the 15 years it takes for each of them to mature physically to compete in DGP. That's 15 years worth of Desire Gods not named Ace, like Groovy. Even then, it would sound like a conspiracy, as there was no reason to believe Ace was inheriting the memories of his previous selves, until Niram finally figured it out. As mentioned by Ace's fellow long-lived white hero Jeremy Brasieri, 2000 years is such a long time, that small details can become forgotten easily.

Yes, he does not know the reasons, he does not know whether he will come to life next time, but this has nothing to do with the real fear of death. We are not afraid to wake up as a child with a different name and relatives. We are afraid of non-existence. So, Ace's fate is a gift, not a curse.
Death =/= non-existence though. In this franchise, the only ones I recall who faced the terrifying possibility of non-existence are Tenkuuji Takeru and Ryu, due to the circumstances of Toucon Boost Damashii and the Ganmaizers. Most people just die normally, without limits on their souls. I would consider Ace's situation a curse not only for himself, but also for his families who care about him. In every life, he has the same insatiable destiny of searching for Mitsume, which prevents him from having meaningful connections to other humans. Ace doesn't know the fear of death in the same way as others, but he understands more than anybody the pain of a life not experienced. Even after finding Mitsume, he still can't find something he wants to live for.
Nice review BTW.

Ace could just make a new one. Disappointed though that Na-Go peaked at BeatBoost and we never get to see Fantasy used to its full potential.

Samas shot her boss, usurped his position and then proceeded to do nothing. What was even the point of her?

Ace is in full all-loving hero mode here, literally ascending to godhood through an unspoken scheme, which... fine? It's putting the "deus" in "deus ex machina", especially coming right off the "Oh yeah Tsumuri was possessed by evil Tsumuri" twist, which feels like a weird dead end for that plot. (I do think my biggest criticism of Geats on my brain at the moment, is the Gaim-esque treatment Tsumuri has gotten in these last couple of arcs, being fought over by every side whilst having nearly no agency in the entire finale).
Yeah, it's weird how Black Tsumuri is all like, "we're the same, so you wished for this", which never gets elaborated on. It's a contradiction, since Tsumuri's prayer is the only reason Ace came back at the start of the Desire Royale. The show is being too abstract here, that I can't really get a handle on it. Feels like they wanted to get that scene from the OP in the show, but couldn't figure out how to make it make sense. But, I guess, at least they tried, unlike Evil Ikki.
Regarding my thoughts on Geats overall, I enjoyed it, even though it failed to stick the landing. This confirms my judgment that Takahashi doesn't have the stamina to write a year-long show without help, but I'm grateful that he was able to keep it going consistently until at least the end of the Desire Royale arc, which still allows for a better second half than EX-Aid's Chronicle hell. Thanks to Takebe as producer, none of us had to suffer another Job Competition either. I think Geats is easily the best show Takahashi has ever written, but the flaws became clear as the plot increased in complexity, with more devices needing to be juggled and inevitably, some of them hit the floor.
I have mixed opinions about the characters. Ironically, Keiwa, my least favorite Rider of the main 5, had my favorite conclusion to his development arc. Neon often doesn't feel like much of a Rider (despite having one of the most OP Raise Buckles), even though I love her as a character and supported her desire for true love. Michinaga brought some much needed critical thinking to a frequently irrational group, but he stagnates when his critical voice is no longer needed. Win is fun, but he's just there. Ace is cool and charismatic (when he's not making annoying animal metaphors), but as a protagonist, he's weak. His arc ended too early and the rest of the show ended up being about everybody else, including Daichi.
To quote the Desire Driver, Get Ready For.... My updated
Reiwa Rider Ranking
:
1st) Saber
2nd) Geats
3rd) Zero One
4th) Revice
It was actually a close call between Saber and Geats for the top position, but alas, Geats exhausted its stamina before the finish line. Nevertheless, it was a breath of fresh air after the disappointment of its immediate predecessor and judging Geats on its own merits, I think it's a pretty great KR show with a unique and fun premise and solid execution.
Looking forward to seeing if Gotchard can give Saber competition! With the shared writers between them, I have high expectations!
