Joking aside one reason I could think of is that maybe the alchemists get more access to resources and benefits for their alchemist activities that non-Super Class A alchemists don't.
And maybe also kickass salary and perks, like what the members of Lucky Clover got? Haha. Lucky Clover members are elites as well.
Or perhaps the elites have a higher chance to lead the secret alchemy organization/society? The writers need to elaborate more on the inner workings of the alchemy society.

I agree. It may help an alchemist channel his power. Green gems for class A+ (Spanner), red gems for class S (Minato), and red gems with golden shank for class S+ (Fuga).

Could be true. Perhaps the Neuralyzer spell (and Deneuralyzer spell, if it does exist) work similarly to a combination of Memory Charm (to erase memories) and the false memory spell (to censor/tamper with existing memories by implanting artificial ones) in Harry Potter. Another interesting possibility is what if an alchemy uses the Neuralyzer spell on himself, like when Prof. Horace Slughorn used the false memory spell on himself? Is it even possible to extract or copy memories into a storage and view it with a Pensieve-like device?
The Neuralyzer spell was probably used on Spanner to make him an obedient tool. It'd be ironic if it's true. He thinks of Chemies as mere tools, yet it turned out that he is
also
a tool being manipulated by the organization's top brasses. Well, his name's probably a dead giveaway of his true situation.

And obviously the assignment of A-class should have been memorable for him. And also the moral: ?Let your actions speak for you.? So his words were either deliberate contempt, or his memory was also erased. After all, as this episode showed us, even alchemists have their memories erased.
By the way, I wonder how hard Minato worked on Bolt? After all, if he only forgot his existence as Malgam, then he must continue to pursue Spanner, and this certainly will not happen.
Did Minato erase his memory only from the moment of defeat or did the guy completely forget everything related to alchemy.
Judging by his despair, he himself meant the second option.
P.S. Also, for some reason Bolt?s antics seemed similar to Legend?s behavior in the teaser.
My thoughts, exactly. I understand the reasoning behind erasing Muggles' memories to cover up the existence of alchemy, but it makes no sense to erase an alchemist's memories. My hypothesis is that they only erase memories that have something to do with the recent Chemy outbreak. Perhaps the lower-ranked members of AA (Houtarou, Rinne, Renge, Sabimaru, etc) will also be Neuralyzed once the Chemy capture operation is completed.
