Really looking forward to this one, I did some digging and apparently the original script wasn't an Ultraman story, is was "inspired" by Ultraman, so all about a similar giant alien hero who finds a baby Kaiju. But when Netflix picked it up they had the connections to Tsuburaya thanks to the anime adaption of the Ultraman manga, and Netflix gave them the script which they liked so much that the team was granted access to the IP.

Think about that, making a story based on the things you love and then you get the chance to tell it with the big name hero that inspired you in the first place.
