Okay, sure, they're part of an evil organization, but not only is the Mom terribly unlikable due to how she's handling her daughter in general(such as using her as a manipulation tool), but, frankly, the property that she wanted the Wind Tower II built on IS private property and, legally, they have every right to say no to it, sad backstory with the dad or not. I think think alot of people would say no to having that thing in their own backyard to say the least.

It would probably help if Asuka's mom was either a) able to explain why the tower can't be built anywhere else in the city besides there, or b) not a perpetually hostile politician who is always trying to leverage her dead husband's memory and her child's adorableness to get what she wants. In general, I will likely side with the crime family of monsters over any and every politician, which is where this story slipped up.
