There's certainly a time and a place for recklessness, usually when there's no other options, or if the opportunity is too important to miss out on. However, attempted murder of a suspect is not only reckless, but also stupid to cut off a potential source of intel and illegal since the suspect was unarmed. Especially for a cop who's supposed to believe in justice and strive to protect everybody, the innocent and guilty alike.

That's weird, I recalled the Triceratops arc coming later than this and I've already watched this show twice. Maybe it's like you said, that the revenge plot feels too soon after Terui's debut. I did enjoy this arc though, despite the mystery being, yeah, a little predictable. Most of the fun is probably getting to see Accel do more cool stuff.
