Well, it's a common belief that the first episodes of Gaim are uninteresting/unsuccessful/preparatory. Personally, I agree with this your characterization of them:

But here it?s interesting that you praise the action. I watched Gaim after Wizard and for me the fight scenes at first were a huge disappointment. To be honest, my recollection is that the good action started only after the appearance of the Energy Riders, but I may be wrong.
